All these people talk about food in relation to health so what’s the difference between them?
Nutritionist – is a broad descriptor. Anyone could claim to be an expert in nutrition – we all eat! So a nutritionist may not be appropriately qualified and as such, would not be eligible for membership to a professional body like BANT.
Dietitian – typically work within NHS, although some will work directly with the public. Dieticians have a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
Nutritional Therapist – usually works in private practice. They should be appropriately qualified and have a recognised qualification in Nutritional Therapy. Typically they offer personalised health plans, using nutrition and lifestyle interventions.
