How can counselling help?
There are times in our life where a safe space to reflect and reconnect to ourself enables us to re-engage with our life with more energy and purpose.
I work with women who need time and space to reconnect their inner wisdom.
Difficult, uncomfortable feelings may be an indication that something needs to change but often we don’t know where to begin.
As women, these thoughts or feelings may appear for the first time, or be exacerbated by hormonal fluctuations, particularly around perimenopause and beyond. This is often a time when our relationships with others change; our parents are getting older and if we have children they may be becoming more independent of us. Our career may not have offered everything we had dreamed of in our younger years. It is a time of reflection and re-evalutation.
If this is where you are, I can offer a safe, non-judgemental space to constructively explore aspects of yourself and your life that may be painful or uncomfortable in a confidential and compassionate way. I can guide you in listening to yourself, gaining your own insights and making choices to realise the life you want to live.
Whilst counselling is predominantly a ‘talking therapy’ we may include visualisation, breath work, art, dreams or other resources as appropriate.
How we work together
Counselling is a collaborative, co-creational process.
My role is to listen, without judgement and guide you in listening to yourself. What gives you meaning and purpose in your life? Sometimes we forget and the hardest question to answer is “What do you want?”.
Listening to yourself may come naturally but can be confusing when ‘a part of me wants to do x and a part of me doesn’t’.
The goal is to increase your self-awareness, how different aspects of us can influence how we think, feel, behave, and relationships. By listening to these different aspects we deepen our understanding of their/our needs and create a clearer sense of ourselvesour self and our options.
As our awareness of these dynamics develops, we discover we have more freedom to choose and move towards living in a way which feels more authentic. True to ourself, our values and more purposeful.
You can choose how we work together and for how long. My role is to support and guide you through your unique process.
Psychosynthesis therapeutic counselling
In every human being there is a special heave, whole and unbroken
Paracelsus
Psychosynthesis is a psychology of the soul. It offers a non-religious and spiritual framework which holds space for the idea that we are spiritual beings having a human experience.
Psychosynthesis offers a lense through which our ‘symptoms’ can be understood as our soul’s way of getting our attention – calling us to live a life more authentic life aligned with our values and sense of purpose. If we’ve lost a sense of what is meanfingul to us, this is an opportunity for rediscovery.
There is room for your hope and dreams as well as your challenges. Life’s challenges and how we engage with them are often a way we re-discover what is most important to us.
