Shamanic Practice

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

What is Shamanism?

Shamanism is the oldest spiritual practice known to man dating back tens of thousands of years.  It is not a religion and was likely the spiritual practice of our ancestors before religions came into being.

Shamanic peoples see that everything in existence is filled with living spirit and all creation is connected.

Before we developed ‘quantum science’ our ancestors lived with a profound understanding of nature and our place within nature which offered an opportunity to live in harmony with nature and all beings.

Modern Shamanism

American Anthropologist Michael Harner travelled the world studying Shamans in different cultures. Over the years he identified practices which were shared across different cultures. Recognising that in the West we have lost connection with our shamanic knowledge centuries ago Harner developed “Core Shamanism” to enable us to reacquire access to our spiritual heritage.

Shamanism and You

Shamanism offers the experience of direct access to sprit for help, power, information and healing.
Shamanism is a path of heart, integrity and an opportunity to bring the wisdom and compassion of spirit into the world.
It is an active practice, so for people who have struggled with meditation it can offer a new way to access, have direct experience and develop your relationship with spirit.

Shaman -v- Shamanic Practitioner

In indigenous cultures ‘Shaman’ is a title bestowed on an individual by the community they serve.

In modern western society individuals may become a Shamanic Practitioner by learning practices which can be used in service of the community, themselves or simply as part of their spiritual practice.
A shamanic practitioner learns way to work in partnership with their spirit helpers and allies in order bring knowledge, power and healing from spirit to our family, clients and community.

As an ethical practitioner the use of these practices can be requested by an individual for themselves not on behalf of another person. A practitioner will usually consult with their spirit helpers before agreeing to embark on any work.
